Center City, Philadelphia
Center City embodies so much of what Philadelphia is known for – Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, City Hall, the Comcast Center and Rittenhouse Square, to name just a few. The tall buildings in Center City make up a large portion of Philadelphia’s famous skyline. In fact, there was a time when what is now known as Center City was the entire city limits of Philadelphia – until the Act of Consolidation in 1854.
Center City is also the hub for much of Philadelphia’s business, commerce and tourism. Neighborhoods include Penn’s Landing, Old City, Society Hill, South Street, Washington Square West, Market East, Chinatown, Logan Square, the Museum District (located along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway), Rittenhouse Square, Fitler Square, the Avenue of the Arts (South Broad Street), and Jewelers’ Row.
