The densely populated neighborhood of West Philadelphia is the home of over 200,000 Philadelphians. Many higher education institutions are located in West Philadelphia’s University City – the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and Saint Joseph’s University.
West Philadelphia has undergone many changes over the years and is set to see many renovations in the years to come, especially in the Centennial District.
The layout of West Philadelphia streets takes the form of a grid. Market Street runs through most of West Philadelphia, as do Haverford Avenue and Route 3 (comprised of Chestnut Street and Walnut Street). Many moderate-injury to fatal vehicle accidents occurred along these roadways (including motorcycles, small and heavy trucks, SUV’s, buses and other vehicles), though there is a pretty even distribution of traffic accidents in West Philadelphia.
Both Master Street and I-95 tend to have a large number of moderate-injury to fatal vehicle accidents, as well.
